Trump has now suggested that anyone who kneels should be deported.

So in his sick little twisted mind, the right of protest is now a deportation offense.

Does he actually want a civil war?

Trump is protecting a piece of cloth and condemning what it represents.

Dumb move by the NFL. They just ensured that this movement sticks around and that the players and the union dig in on an issue they all but let go. And worse they've positioned themselves on the side of greed and profit and against social justice. They let fear of the bigots drive them to untenable ground. Idiots...

Such a non issue. I can't imagine ever actually getting upset over another man kneeling during the anthem. I would think the Constitution loving folks would support this form of free speech. While I think it's silly for these guys to kneel, I do support their right to express their free speech.

Because that was the topic of the post to which you responded. Trump is acting like a dictator and you're worried about a freaking game.

Their 1st Amendment rights are not violated here. They are free to go out in public and clutch all the pearls they can get their hands on. But employers are allowed to make work rules. Happens all the time.

I’m sorry are you trying to claim Trump passed a law that says players can’t take a knee during the Anthem? :roflol:

Show me one other company in this country that has a stated requirement that employees will stand for the anthem.

No, I am saying he started a culture war while attacking the right of protest. This is exactly the opposite of his job. It is dangerous. It is simple minded. It is unpatriotic. It is anti American.

If you didn't respond like a damned fool it would be easier to take you seriously,

Employers make hundreds of rules for a variety of reasons. The players work for the league. The league makes rules about player conduct, rules of the game, how the uniform is worn, etc.. This is no different.

Wasn't referring to employers. But you know that. I was referring to all the people who are so 'outraged' over guys kneeling out of protest.

Uhhh? The employer is the party that made this rule. This is not a free speech issue. This is a work rule.

Show me a company that plays the national anthem every morning and you'll likely see it there.

Trump was just one of millions that called attention to the fact some players decided to take their personal feelings into the workplace showing disrespect for their country's flag because of a black lives matter protest. A country by the way that provided most of them with multi-million dollar contracts. The PUBLIC's response was to turn off or not go to the games and the ratings fell through the floor.
The resulting revenue drops were the reason the NFL took steps to recover what they had lost.
Blaming or crediting Trump is creating a strawman. The real reason was is is totally economic.
My personal opinion is to let these spoiled self important jackasses kneel in the locker room and have a split screen showing their child like behavior to the entire country and watch their endorsements dissolve into nothingness.

That's besides the point. The point is that this isn't a 1st Amendment violation that so many seem to not understand. Companies are allowed to have policies that override the US Constitution. It happens every single day in every single workplace in the United States.

Any workplace with a dress code is overriding your 1st Amendment rights, any workplace that prohibits the use of vulgarity is overriding your 1st Amendment rights. Any workplace with a policy against making political statements of any sort in the workplace is overriding your 1st Amendment rights.

Can I name another company that specifically states it's employees will stand for the national anthem that isn't a sporting event? No (The NBA makes them do this too). But I also can't name another company that plays the national anthem prior to you beginning your day at work either besides the military and maybe some police agencies. It's a policy specific to them because it's something they do that I don't think any other company does...

This would be a good way to weed out belligerent people and bad eggs. It probably should be started as a tradition.

My lord. Let me try this again....I wasn't talking about the rule OR the employer. I was talking about all the people who are so 'outraged' over the kneeling protest. You know...the people who stopped watching because some guys expressed their freedom of speech by kneeling in protest. THOSE are the people who are being hypocritical when it comes the the Constitution. The people who stopped watching or who are simply 'upset' over the kneeling (not the employer...not the employer....NOT the employer) either support freedom of speech or they don't. You can't pick and choose when you support someones right to express free speech. You don't have to agree with their stance, but you should support their right to that stance.
If you come back chirping about Employer, Employer, Employer, then I will take that as you just trolling and you will be ignored on this topic.

Show me where forced patriotism is a job requirement in any other job.

That is what we are talking about here - forced patriotism. And we have yet to see if this stands up in court.

What's next, you have to keep copies of your votes to show employers? Nothing would stop that either.

It will....it's a private company they are allowed to do that this discussion has been going on for months.

The NFL is not saying that everybody WILL be on the field during the national anthem and everybody WILL stand up. They are saying that IF you are on the field during the national anthem THEN you will stand up. It's not forcing them to be out there they are free to not participate in the opening ceremony if they so desire and remain in the locker room until it's conclusion.

There is absolutely no violation of any sort whatsoever with a policy like that.

And even if they did say that all players WILL be on the field and WILL stand up for the national anthem they are still within their right to enforce a policy like that because they are a private organization.

It's no different than Hooters Restaurants telling their waitresses that you WILL wear makeup, you WILL have your hair down, you WILL wear stockings, and you WILL wear that famous shirt that bears the name. They are allowed to have a dress code like that because they are a private organization.

Private organizations are ALLOWED to mandate things like that. Why is this so difficult to understand?

We aren't talking about indentured servitude here, you don't HAVE to work there.
