That's the beauty of the long-arm of the law .... they can wait and wait and hit and miss ... you can't make a wrong-move or miss even once ...

Some of us make noise because we don't want any type of legislation. Still we need to hear each other! We need to stand with each other! Or we will fall alone.

And that line of thinking is what the government is counting on!

Get ready for the sale of black market Mexican firearms to skyrocket.

Gun prohibition, would be interesting to see the outcome.

Something has to be done, but, I don't like the idea of an executive order...

I wanna say this is something that should be voted on, but, people on both sides are so (*)(*)(*)(*)ing miseducated on the issues of guns & gun violence, and, violence, in general, that, whichever way a vote went, it probably wouldn't be for the right reasons...

And Congress is just gonna keep their thumbs up their asses, so, what do you do in this situation?

I honestly do not think so unless they democrats just want to give the senate to the republicans and the white house in 2016. I honestly do think they will sacrifice all of their other agendas for a temporary order to satisfy a tiny minority.

Indeed. The money to be made in the firearm market would trump the drug trade.

I think this is what Obama meant when he would create jobs. *rubs hands together*

What do you do? It's simple really.

You be an American and defend the constitution.

    Any questions?

    That wasn't my point...

Of course the Constitution is to be defended...

    I'm well aware of that...

My point is, no one is willing to do anything to help try & curb violence in this country...

    On either side...

One side wants to take away all the guns...

The other side wants everyone to build their own personal arsenals...

Neither will be the correct answer...

The answer is to stop focusing on the world and start focusing on internal issues. Education, mental health and accountability from bottom to top.

I am not sure anything can be done honestly. If he makes any far reaching executive orders the republicans will take back control. The economy was good under Clinton and the democrats paid a heavy price last time. The NRA and republicans will laugh all the way to more control and the bank. Obama is not my favorite but have never seen him as stupid.

The only way to get caught would be to walk outside with the thing...

I can keep all 8 of my assault rifles in my house for the rest of my life lol...

Even something as ridiculous as confiscating all firearms would cause the overall number of firearms in peoples hands to go down from 300 million to maybe 200 million.

You will have those who will willingly give up their firearms, registered or unregistered. But the majority of people will tell the government to go **** itself.

If you want a quick consensus then do a poll on this very forum alone. Ask "If you own firearms would you give up your firearms, both registered and unregistered, if the government instituted a national ban on all firearms?"

Go ahead and do it, check the results.

Actually many people might not even vote. Knowing this liberal government they would use the IP addresses on the forum to track down everybody who said "No".

Atleast one side stands up for the constitution instead of attack it.

Look...the issue is big government. Our government is too big and our political system is corrupt and doesn't work anymore.

You want REAL change? Vote libertarian and help make significant change in govt. No more illegal this or illegal that and the govt has no say over social issues. It wasn't supposed to from the get go anyway...

Change is going to require a revolution. Only question is, do you REALLY want change?

    Think about that.

As long as we're stuck under a 2-party system propagating the same ideas over & over, nothing is going to change...

The rate of violent crime in the US has been going down quite steadily in the US. I'd say what we've been doing since the 90s has been the right thing.

So your'e saying you approve of us turning into Nazi Germany, since that's exactly what they did before taking over?

For every liberal who called anyone a nut job for claiming Obama wanted to take people's guns...well, there ya go. Who are the nut jobs now?

Obama wants to bring sanity to this crazy gun-toting gone crazy country. What's it going to take for most lunatic gun owners to realize there needs to be some control, when one of their own kills another gun-toting happy go lucky nut and their kids?

Which is why I've washed my hands of the Republican party. I'm full on libertarian now because I want to see some changes being made.

Our current system of governance cannot function properly in a society like the United States. We're very multi-cultural and there are huge differences among people about what's right and what's wrong. A conflict of morality if you will.

Vote libertarian for a system of governance that meets the needs of a changed America. Otherwise we're headed down a dark path with our current system and the future does not look very bright.

Simply put, it is practically impossible to seize all weapons, there are too many in too many hands for it to be considered. Any fear of that being implemented is nonsense.

You are ignorant of the why. Perhaps you came up in the last 20 years but many of us were trained; no indoctrinated in such a way that we believe in freedom. We saw communism (some of us saw the tanks rolling in germany) as a threat. We learned what we were to stand against and in the last 20 years our nation has started to head that way. We are patriots and citizens of the United States of America! Our America not your communist/socialist/idealist utopia that you and your kind are trying to force on us.

(*)(*)(*)(*) this garbage you (*)(*)(*)(*) commies call the US!

The all or nothing scenario is only held by the extreme ends, it is impossible to implement an effort to seize all weapons, the level of effort would be on a biblical scale to execute.

The democrats have more to lose. 30% of their base are gun owners not to mention the independents. The only thing that might save the democrats is the incompetence of the republican leaders on most other issues.

Gun violence is lower than it has been since the 60's the mass killings are terrible. How do we prevent them? They are like serial killers impossible to predict or understand. This just seems like another war on something to remove freedom from the masses for a illusion of more safety.
