The EC is the only thing keeping the Union hole. There is certainly an argument to be made for dissolving the Union, given the extreme gap that exists between the left and the right. But you should understand that abolishing the EC will have the effect of breaking up the nation if thats what you really want.

Also, you have no idea what the real popular vote would have been if that was the competition. Because in that scenario, Trump does campaign in California, New York, and Illinois, and does have a better showing in the popular vote.

Everyone has a say in the presidency. If it was up to one entire state to select the president, it means that 51% of the population prefers another candidate over another.

Each state has two Senators. The number of Representatives per state is determined by each state’s population of US citizens.
