Black lives only matter depending on who kills them.

If it's other blacks, as is often the case.... Many progressives could actually care less and their eyes glaze over when the conversation even goes that way

When the Left starts getting upset about the murder of all black people, no matter who it is that does The killing.... Then people might start to give the sound bite slogan a little bit more credibility.

But hey it worked out great for the so-called leaders of BLM.... They got filthy rich off it... And then promptly bought large houses outside of the hood

No sir the central premise of BLM is that capitalism is inherently racist. Every thing else flows from that central warped thesis. Note almost no one believes that human lives don't matter black as well as all others, save maybe some of the wackier elements of the environmentalist movement. And what has Black Lives Matter accomplished? The death of 100s of black men women and in the internecine violence that followed in their and billions in damages to black entrepreneurs.

Are you referring to the group that began with the marching mantra, "What do we want? Dead cops. When do we want them? Now."

The OP is just adding to the problem. In general, the problem is not the police. The vast majority of the law enforcement officers are honest hard working people. Most of the deaths at the hands of law enforcement were preceded by the black trying to avoid arrest or disobeying the officer. The confrontation tends to elevate into violence.

In short, the black deaths at the hands of the police are usually a result of their own bad behavior.

It makes me wonder. How many black deaths are caused by threads like this? By painting the police as the bad guys, they are encouraging bad behavior by the blacks.

Here's what amounts to their mission statement.

#BlackLivesMatter was founded in 2013 in response to the acquittal of Trayvon Martin’s murderer. Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation, Inc. is a global organization in the US, UK, and Canada, whose mission is to eradicate white supremacy and build local power to intervene in violence inflicted on Black communities by the state and vigilantes. By combating and countering acts of violence, creating space for Black imagination and innovation, and centering Black joy, we are winning immediate improvements in our lives.

This. What better way to portray anyone that opposes or thinks differently as being "racist" than to make up a slogan that can easily be considered more than one way? When people take it to mean the most obvious way claim that is not what's really meant and since you oppose it then you are racist! The only way Identitarian Ideology, or Identity Politics, works is if you can divide by identity. And the left is all about Identity Politics.

In the case of Identity Politics and race is that there NEEDS to be someone that is racist. The more the better. If you can convince a group that another group is racist then anything that "racist" group says should be automatically dismissed without thought. Even slightly considering what that "racist" group says is forbidden because to do so "gives what is said meaning". That is why when you see protests at colleges/universities against conservative speakers you'll always see the protestors trying to shut down any interview of the protestors. Even to the point of actual violence.

Unfortunately Republicans do have actual racists that "follow" them and they don't do much to try and separate themselves from those actual racists other than the occasional "I don't want their vote" (or something similar). Due to this Democrats, and especially leftists, use this to their advantage and start using broad brush attacks against Republicans in general. But I would bet the amount of actual racists in this country couldn't even fill up the largest sized football/baseball stadium in the US.

Edit to note: Republicans/conservatives do occasionally mess up on their slogans too. But I don't see the indication that its meant by design. "Make America Great Again" for example was taken from Ronald Reagan and it referenced the economy, nothing more. When the US dominated the economy world wide. Leftists though took it to talk about the 50's and Jim Crow and even as far back as slavery (Identity Politics again).

It does not. And it's only slander if it's wrong. And it is true that "all lives matter" as a response to Black Lives Matter is the narrative of white supremacists to try to draw attention away from the matter. Which doesn't mean in any shape way or form that YOU are a white supremacists. I'm only making you aware of the origin and purpose of this argument.

That is EXACTLY what it is. Unless you believe that culture and economics are either genetic or bestowed upon each individual by God at birth.

This is the perfect example of how the right can be fooled by presenting them a twisted version of the facts. But when they see the facts as they are, they arrive at the correct conclusion.

Or.... you can DENY reality. Unfortunately for you YOU yourself, presented a study that proves this. So if you have now decided to claim that studies that YOU presented "made up"... there is no hope whatsoever for a serious dialogue.

Yes. But that's a different topic. That's the topic of HOW to solve the problem. I also disagree, in principle, with that solution. Though it is worth taking a look at some aspects in certain precincts.

I don't see how. It's a hashtag. There is (or was... I don't use twitter) a limit to the number of characters in a hashtag. So they wouldn't be able to include a full explanation. People who followed the discussion understood what it meant. And those who didn't should be able to understand it by explaining it once in a very simple manner. Unless they don't WANT to. Which is the part where white supremacism comes in.

Black Lives Matter is not a "left" motto. It's the motto of people who don't want themselves and their loved ones shot by police. The fact that the leadership of the former "conservative party" has been taken over by white nationalists is purely coincidental. In another time, this idea would be something embraced by the left and the right.

That's not an accident. It's a result of the promotion of a purposeful lie.

So you believe that the only possible explanations for culture and economics is either god, genetics, or systemic racism? Which of these 3 is responsible for your culture?

LOL...That is patently ridiculous. You dont even believe this nonsense that you spout. I guess this is a glimpse into the mind of a race-baiting leftist. EVERYTHING to you is racism. When in doubt, call it racism. When pushed further, call it systemic racism.

I guess that you thought youd be clever by quoting a half thought.

The actual thought was....If you are going to point to more blacks being hit by a baton ( made up statistic), that could be systemic racism, or it COULD be that more blacks resist arrest. The numbers alone do NOT tell you the whole story.

That statement is the heart of this matter. You can quote as many numbers as you like. The numbers alone do NOT tell you the whole story.

There are nuances involved that you refuse to acknowledge because it calls into question your misguided beliefs.

So what is incorrect about that statement? Are you going to hide behind the word "every" and say that they have not done this for "every" case that has ever existed? That is a distinction without relevance. Mindless bickering even.

It is their protocol. Leave it at that. Has there "ever" been a time where protocol was not followed? Yeah, I suppose thats likely, but the reality that it is standard protocol is what is relevant. It had nothing to do with his race.

There are several organizations that use the slogan "Black Lives Matter". Like the one you mention. Also Black Lives Matter Global Network, The Movement For Black Lives, .... and others. Whether one of those organizations will end up becoming the face of the movement, or whether it will ever become an organized movement at all is yet to be seen. But for now, as a movement, it's decentralized and grassroots. And the originators of the hashtag have expressed their hope that it will stay that way.

Should, yes. Will they, most will take what it says in plain English. I should say, most took what it said in plain English when BLM was a hot topic. It isn’t anymore. Most just ignore the topic. It’s ancient history except for political junkies. Most Americans aren’t political junkies as few pay much attention to politics and issues like BLM wanted to bring to the fore unless an election is near or it affects them personally.

Hashtag or not, I don’t do twitter so I really don’t know what a hashtag is. BLM left the wrong impression in many folks minds. Only black lives mattered. That can’t be denied. The name itself was bad PR, Over time many came around, many didn’t. BLM seems to be on its last legs today. Going into irrelevancy except for political sites like this one.

Perhaps better use of English in saying what is meant might damper that purposeful promotion. The name itself left it open for manipulation.
