The Quran is meant to be read in Arabic, there are different translations in English because of this. Do you know Arabic?

The Prophet fought in many wars against the Pagans who were persecuting Muslims throughout Arabia. The Quran is clear Muslims are to fight in self-defense against aggression and persecution, and to stop when the aggression/persecution is stopped.

Perhaps I should just say if he/she really believies Islam to be a peaceful religion in that you are required to be peaceful and you can be friends with non-believers etc, than that's a good thing.

Sad that you believe this. I never heard anything that ML did that resulted in the killing of thousands of people. Osama was a rich, spoiled child and a distorted thinking murderer. He wasn't speaking out against a misguided Church, he was secular and used the Quran to promote his ideas and failings as a real man, certainly no saint.

Sure, we hear and read all the time they all worship the same God, however the Quran is a blasphemous retelling of a story that madman Mohammed wrote and put his spin on it and has resulted in a world that is more dangerous than ever.

Are you going to tell me that the Quran honors and brings glory to God? That all three stories are relaying who God is? That the followers of each of those faiths have a relationship with God that is one of peace and love? I think not and if you do, then you are in desparate need of a Savior.

Salam... I have an online professor friend, Salim Mansur of University of Western Ontario, who boldy stated that Islam requires serious reform, modernity.

The Qur'an is a doctrine of the sword and was not written by Mohammad who was illiterate. Many years later anecdotes were put together. Since it also inlcudes deception toward the jews and others I can understand that it fit bin Dead now.

Furthermore Islam is a shameless derivative of Judaism, and so is Christianity. Few Muslims would accept that it si the same God.

And I tend to agree with Daniel Greenfield that Muslims still grieve and will continue to have grievances, because the majority are jelaous and angry. The Muslims of the world, including the supposed moderates keep pushing the envelope with Sharia.

I don't understand what Jews have to do with the legitimacy of the Quran though.

The actions of fundamentalist radicals of Islam, whether they be the violent ones of Al Qaeda, Al Shabaab, Hamas, Hezbollah, or whoever, or the non-violent jihad of the Muslim Brotherhood and their thousands of front groups, it is all very much consistent withe the teachings of Islam.

The fundamentalist radicals are not 1400 years old. The didn't create the Koran with its many pages of genocide & torture/mutilation (8:12, 9:5, 9:73, 9:123, 48:29, etc, etc.), wife-beating & misogyny (4:34), pedophilia (65:4), slavery (33:50, 23:5-6, 4:24, 2:178, 70:29-30, etc), etc.

I've been reading various translations of the Koran for 50 years, and I could have read it for all of its 1400 years, and it wouldn't make a bit of difference. A good way to see the difference between Christianity and Islam is to compare the words of Jesus Christ with the words of Mo the pedophile.

Here's a few samples of that :

1. Jesus Christ - "Blessed are you when men revile you and persecute you, and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely, on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven."

Mohammad - "And slay them wherever you find them, and drive them out of the places whence they drove you out, for persecution is worse than slaughter".

2. Jesus Christ - "..if anyone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also..."

Mohammad - "Will ye not fight a folk who broke their solemn pledges, and purposed to drive out the messenger and did attack you first ?"

3. Jesus Christ - "Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you."

Mohammed - "Against them make ready your strength to the utmost of your power, including steeds of war, to strike terror into the hearts of the enemies of Allah and your enemies, and others besides whom ye may not know, but whom Allah doth know."

Jesus preached peace and love. Mohammed preached war and hatred.
