Mexico is going to pay for it.

    Immigration and the disingenuous Dems.

That's why our administration has moved to aggressively secure our borders more, by hiring a record number of new border guards, by deporting twice as many criminal aliens as every before, by cracking down on illegal hiring, by barring welfare benefits to illegal aliens[.]

Bill Clinton received a standing ovation for his remarks.

There were no protests. The media, Hollywood, and Democrats were not outraged at Clinton. Meryl Streep did not say the brownshirts were coming. Madonna didn't threaten to burn the White House down. The Washington Post and other newspapers did not write articles every day calling Clinton a racist, a xenophobe, and a breaker of families.

California's speaker of the House recently said the following (this is a partial quote in context):

I can tell you half of my family would be eligible for deportation under executive order, because if they got a false Social Security card, if they got a false identification, if they got a false driver's license, if they got a false green card, and anyone who has family members who are undocumented knows that almost entirely everybody has secured some sort of false identification. That's what you need to survive, to work.

Forgery and identity theft are serious crimes, yet not for illegal immigrants.

Does anyone believe that people who use false identification to stay and work in the U.S. won't vote illegally?

President Obama and the Democratic Party intentionally made the illegal immigration problem worse by refusing to enforce the laws. They knowingly refused to address immigration problems when they had complete control of Congress and the White House in 2009 and 2010. In doing that, they showed that they wanted to create a political issue rather than actually solve the problem. President Obama sued Arizona for seeking to enforce immigration law, saying it is a federal issue, and then did nothing about either that or sanctuary cities. After that, he and his Democratic Party blamed Republicans and conservatives as the flow of illegal immigration only got worse.

Obama, the media, Democrats, and Hollywood are disingenuous at best.

Democracy is in danger not because a president enforces immigration laws. Nor is it in danger because Congress passes bills that include building a wall, which, by the way, Obama, then-senator Hillary Clinton, and Vice President Joe Biden voted for. Yet somehow, democracy is in extreme danger when the blowback comes after politicians and the Department of Justice refuse to abide by their oaths to enforce immigration laws, and judges ignore congressional statutes when they write rulings?

So, you're suggesting that something estimated to cost $40B is just too small to require justification???

    Really?

One gaping hole in your argument here is that the situation today is not anywhere close to what it was when Clinton was president. Today, the population of resident undocumented aliens is not increasing, and it was increasing during Clinton's terms - and the Bush years, too. And, Bush also increased spending on the southern border.

Another problem with your post is that Clinton's increases didn't stop the growth in the undocumented alien population in the US. The rate of increase at the point here Clinton's term began continued through the Clinton and Bush years. So, it's ridiculous to suggest that Clinton's experience supports more similar spending.

Another point is that the number of undocumented aliens in the US STOPPED GROWING at the point of the Bush crash and has essentially stopped since that time. So, suggesting that the Obama years were a failure in immigration is just plain ridiculous. His terms were the first time in the modern era where the number of undocumented aliens has not increased!! That is an epic success.

Another problem is that there are other ways to get in, so doing more on the wall is only addressing a fraction of the ways people might enter.

Overall, there just isn't a real, numbers oriented justification that shows that spending on a wall is justified.

And, the part about Mexico paying for it is political BS. They have no interest in paying for a wall.

Nope I'm saying 40 billion is the equivalent of thirty (30) days of money paid that benefits no one nor does it buy anything tangible! What I find interesting is the sudden interest in money wasted when for the last eight years under OBarry we have literally flushed 2.8 trillion dollars in debt interest payments and not even a peep about it from are new found Frugal Libby's ;)

Seems they might build it too. Solicitation for contracts has been announced. Mexican companies are bidding.

Make America great again includes the Americas. Go figure.

I've been correct much more often than you re: Trump. You might want to start looking to me for your future speculations.

They will. A physical barrier on the Southern border is a good idea, that is why Obama, Biden and Hillary all voted in favor of it. Building a barrier has been US law, for many many moons. And Mexico WILL pay for the wall!

    After all:

Mexico won't pay one peso for that wall. And they will retaliate against Trump's actions. Starting with no more imported corn from Iowa or Kansas.

Let see is he building it for the people who will not be able to find anyone to bring in their crops before they rot in the field or the people looking for labor to repair their leaking roof outside of home depot?

By the way as a very large percent of the total construction industry work force is illegal workers where oh where is Trump and crew going to find enough people to built this wall unless the government make use of illegal workers to built the damn wall in the first place.

No Mexico will not paid for the wall but if it build one hell of a lot of Mexican workers will need to be paid to build the wall to the tune of billions of dollars.

That could be a danger to American lives in the even that the Northern Mexican states are annexed. Best to deploy a bunch of drones.

In fact, I'm not sure why they don't just deploy drones to fly from Texas to California at 50km intervals. Have IR cameras find anyone running across, then drop a bomb on them or alternatively alert border patrol.

Non-lethal mines are the way to go because they're passive. As one of the wiser members of this site said recently, devices could be developed where they 'explode' some kind of marking ink onto the illegal? Brilliant idea. I'm surprised that I didn't think of it!! lol

    Failing to deliver on promises?

Old Donnie, (we're cool like that) hasn't been in office more than 30 odd days. DumboCraps continue to drag heels Re: our dear leader's appointees... The House Speaker assures us, in an interview w/ Hannity, that all's going according to the GOP's master plan of 200 days give or take a few.

The rest of your post is just steaming, (like a pile....Get it?) with angst.

Nothing to see here, but Liberal anus dribbling...

(Before I get, again, labeled as a Republiturd, know this, I grabbed me some Johnson...)

I started, er ah, heard a rumor that when he tries to deport people to Mexico that Mexican border agents are going to require to see long form birth certificates proven that those people are in fact natives of Mexico.

That's easily countered; if they can't show documentary evidence they're Americans then they must be . . . .[IMG] . . . I'll get back to you on that! :blankstare:

    Good idea.

Or perhaps we use the border as a storage point for all our nuclear waste with just 2 parallel 6 foot fences to keep the animals safe a safe distance away. Then allow for a certain controlled amount of leakage.
