I'm flattered you have followed my stint here at PF.

Your posts suck. They lack any thought but are loaded with lib tripe and often stupid pictures. Just an observation.

 

"The" disposable income? that makes it sound as if there is some giant pile of "income" lying around and each person goes to it to get a piece and some get a bigger piece than others. Real income comes from wealth creation and those who create the most earn the most, not some mystical land where income fairies hand out bits of money from pots of gold.

Granted, there are some who get wealth by corrupt means, but you keep voting for those people so you don't really have anyone to blame for that but yourself.

 

So taking a sentence out of context, creating a strawman and then attacking that strawman is a smart political tactic?

It seems Mitt Romney has himself a bit of a problem with the small business owner featured in one of his latest campaign ads that I wrote about here: Lawrence O'Donnell Hits Team Romney for Latest Hack Job.
It appears the star of that ad received a whole lot of government money to help out his small business, directly contradicting the message the Romney campaign was trying to get across in the ad he was featured in.


Star of Romney ‘My Hands Didn’t Build This’ Ad Received Millions in Government Loans and Contracts:

In a new TV ad, Romney features an offended New Hampshire businessman, saying, “My father’s hands didn’t build this company? My hands didn’t build this company? My son’s hands aren’t building this company?”

The New Hampshire Union Leader’s John DiStato today reports that in 1999 the business in question, Gilchrist Metal, “received $800,000 in tax-exempt revenue bonds issued by the New Hampshire Business Finance Authority ‘to set up a second manufacturing plant and purchase equipment to produce high definition television broadcasting equipment’…”

In addition, in 2011, Gilchrist Metal “received two U.S. Navy sub-contracts totaling about $83,000 and a smaller, $5,600 Coast Guard contract in 2008…”

The businessman, Jack Gilchrist, also acknowledged that in the 1980s the company received a U.S. Small Business Administration loan totaling “somewhere south of” $500,000, and matching funds from the federally-funded New England Trade Adjustment Assistance Center.

“I’m not going to turn a blind eye because the money came from the government,” Gilchrest said.
“As far as I’m concerned, I’m getting some of my tax money back.
I’m not stupid, I’m not going to say ‘no.’
Shame on me if I didn’t use what’s available.”

I'd say you got some of your tax money back and then some pal.
And shame on you for making a dishonest ad for Mitt Romney when you knew full well you don't even agree with the basic premise of the ad, which you admitted on Neil Cavuto's show that O'Donnell went after in the link at the top of this post.

 

Yes and no. If you're among the top 1% of earners, you have the ability to buy far more than 27 times the influence of one average citizen.

The problem is that people assume that democracy is something that ensures equal representation. It doesn't. In any system, there are elites. In a capitalistic system, that elite group is made up of billionaires. So, regardless of the democratic principles of the government, the top 1% has the ability to buy whoever runs for office.

It's why whoever wins this November mostly doesn't matter. The elites have bought both Obama and Romney. They've bought most of Congress as well.

So, the fact that they pay much more in taxes doesn't exactly make me lose sleep, because they run the system already anyway.

The most you can do as an individual is work hard enough or smart enough to make a decent living and hope that you're lucky enough to remain in good health for most of your life.

What the powers that be decide to do with tax policy is mostly out of our hands. We can nudge both parties in certain directions, but it's largely determined by special interests.

 

His comments were worded poorly, no question. His point though, is spot on. If people could swallow their blinding pride, they'd see what he actually meant and it's really quite simple. Nobody makes it entirely on their own. Hard work and intelligence certainly play their roles, but your success is based on the successes, and sometimes the failures, of others. Always. Nobody is an island. It's really not a hard concept to grasp, and the deliberate exaggeration and mis-characterization of what the president said is nothing but in-your-face bias against him. Nothing wrong with not liking Obama, but there's always something wrong with being dishonest about why you do.

No, she is simply smart enough to hire folk who both are smarter than you and work harder than you.

 

It resonates because it's a pile of collectivist baloney and it is an attempt to give much of the credit for individual success and drive to government beneficence. It's praise to the state and it conflates society with government, a typical byproduct of collectivist thinking.

If it bothers you that much that something might be taken out of context, then I highly recommend that you get out of discussing politics. It's the nature of the beast.

 

I read that we now have fewer jobs than when BoBo took office...apparently his job creation is a lot like a boat taking on a gallon of water a second while BoBo's pumps remove a pint. Regardless of the funny math the ship is going down.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there were 142.1 million jobs in January 2009 and in June 2012 that number had rocketed up to 143.2 million jobs...a growth of 1.1 million over 3 years. The population grew by 7.2 million. We 'grew' far fewer jobs then we had folk looking...if they were looking. Which they increasingly are not.

 

No one said that Marxist Socialists are sincere. In fact, I'd guess they aren't, since Socialism/Liberalism is based on fear. And fear is the biggest reason that anyone lies.

 

I think it resonates because economics is a subject foreign to most voters on both sides of the isle. Both have spoken against free trade, and both had cheerleaders in their corner rooting for those statements.

Know a lot of people who've gotten wealthy in a vacuum? Who wealthy would anyone be if we all had our own islands?

It doesn't bother me at all. I'm just pointing out the obvious and posting some context that might spawn genuine discussion, instead of ideological rants and idiotic accusations of "marxism" or "socialism". Maybe I'm hoping for too much.

It's a shame that the President of the United States has ZERO idea what it takes to create, run, and success in business. He is just not qualified for the position he holds and we will fire him in November.

 

This reminds me of when I was in my sixth year of business, and the profits were starting to show. This was after working six to seven days a week, saving everything, and even needing sleep medication because I could not get the business off my mind.
