What did Jesus say about following his commandments in Matthew 7:26-27 (NKJV) = “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”

He had previously said in Matthew 5:39 (NKJV) = But I tell you not to resist an evil person. But whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also.

    &

Matthew 5:44 (NKJV) = But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you,

Given your attitude maybe God and Satan are making a bet over your soul like they did with Job's. Based on the comments it seems like Satan is wining.

As it says in Psalm 23, when you walk through the valley of the shadow of death you should fear no evil because your God is with you. If you have fear you don't trust your God.

A rod may be more appropriate for a person.

Proverbs 26:3 (NKJV) = A whip for the horse, A bridle for the donkey, And a rod for the fool’s back.

So many people ignore the words of Christ. They are inconvient. They get in the way of their hating people different than themselves and judging others.

Love is the message of His life, His death, His Commandments.

Jesus called the Pharisees children of Satan, so does that mean He was hating?

LOL! You're projecting, and clueless. I don't fear death.

I wasn't calming the garden of Eden was true in the sense of scientific fact but once again you're a Bible literalist. So it comes as no surprise that you wouldn't understand the spiritual truth if it smacked you in the face. Can you disprove the sinful selfish nature of man as well as man's audacity to claim he knows all?

You're the weirdo hooked on a flat earth theory. LOL! We've discussed the subject before. Obviously what I've explained to you doesn't sink in. Again, for possible brain penetration. The illustration of a flat earth was placed in earlier Bible editions to show how long ago our faith began in relations to the historic mind of ancient man. There were also map illustrations of the ancient near east. Surprise! Physical maps change just like science is constantly changing. The funny thing is nearly all Catholic children who are taught religion know this trivial tidbit. Yet, you can't figure it out because you continue to use the same old baseless arguments ad nauseam.

You might as well c/p all the religious threads you responded to @ the CF & post them here. However, I do suggest you edit your lengthy radical slams & personal attacks. That wouldn't go over too well here.

I think their definition of love is to be wishy washy and never confront a wrong by never accusing someone of actually being wrong.

When I read post after post from you, full of all-knowing arrogant claims about God and what-not, no, I can't "disprove" man's audacity he knows all. Neither would I seek to, obviously - you embody it very well. You manage to be the biggest hypocrite the internet has ever known - you project your own all-knowingness onto others, yet the people you disagree with - scientists and skeptics - do not think they know everything. There just happen to be some things they do understand pretty well, and they, unlike you, don't accept unfounded claims about gods, angels, flying saucers or what have you. You do, however, because you fear death. You like to think that there's an afterlife and that you're going to be "saved." That's what it comes down to, plus the feeling of security you may get from thinking that your personal god is in charge of the world. That's human frailty at work.

I'm the weirdo who acknowledges the fact that the bible's writers believed in a flat Earth, as did the Christians until those naughty Greek pagans eventually overturned their model. Of course, it took a lot longer to get passed geocentrism, didn't it? The Inquisition had to torture and kill more than a few people before that was finally over with and the Catholic church accepted the plain truth. Typical conservatives..

Let's see about that needed brain penetration you've mentioned:

1 Chronicles 16:30: “He has fixed the earth firm, immovable.”

Psalm 93:1: “Thou hast fixed the earth immovable and firm ...”

Psalm 96:10: “He has fixed the earth firm, immovable ...”

Psalm 104:5: “Thou didst fix the earth on its foundation so that it never can be shaken.”

Isaiah 45:18: “...who made the earth and fashioned it, and himself fixed it fast...”

The vault of heaven is a crucial concept. The word “firmament” appears in the King James version of the Old Testament 17 times, and in each case it is translated from the Hebrew word raqiya, which meant the visible vault of the sky. The word raqiya comes from riqqua, meaning “beaten out.” In ancient times, brass objects were either cast in the form required or beaten into shape on an anvil. A good craftsman could beat a lump of cast brass into a thin bowl. Thus, Elihu asks Job, “Can you beat out [raqa] the vault of the skies, as he does, hard as a mirror of cast metal (Job 37:18 )?”

Job 9:8, “...who by himself spread out the heavens [shamayim]...”

Psalm 19:1, “The heavens [shamayim] tell out the glory of God, the vault of heaven [raqiya] reveals his handiwork.”

Psalm 102:25, “...the heavens [shamayim] were thy handiwork.”

Isaiah 45:12, “I, with my own hands, stretched out the heavens [shamayim] and caused all their host to shine...”

Isaiah 48:13, “...with my right hand I formed the expanse of the sky [shamayim]...”

Yes,that's what it is, in that way they are loved by everyone while at the same time claim that they are being like Jesus. This is what the Bible calls having a form of Godliness but denying the power. In other words, they really don't have to repent and strive to overcome sin in there lives.....just believe in Jesus and continue living in sin because Jesus love me, they tell themselves. They continue in sin, because they are under grace.

    Romans 6:1-13 (ASV)
1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
2 God forbid. We who died to sin, how shall we any longer live therein?
3 Or are ye ignorant that all we who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?
4 We were buried therefore with him through baptism unto death: that like as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we also might walk in newness of life.
    5 For if we have become united with him in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection;
    6 knowing this, that our old man was crucified with him, that the body of sin might be done away, that so we should no longer be in bondage to sin;
7 for he that hath died is justified from sin.
    8 But if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him;
9 knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death no more hath dominion over him.
10 For the death that he died, he died unto sin once: but the life that he liveth, he liveth unto God.
11 Even so reckon ye also yourselves to be dead unto sin, but alive unto God in Christ Jesus.
12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey the lusts thereof:
13 neither present your members unto sin as instruments of unrighteousness; but present yourselves unto God, as alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.

More projection. <yawn> I never claim to know all. However, what knowledge I've gained through the yrs I owe to my most excellent teachers of various faiths, spiritual directors, religious scholars, etc as well as my parents. I've also had personal encounters, which only strengthens my faith. Yet, never once have I forced my beliefs onto you. Don't mistake challenging your often ridiculous statements with forcing my beliefs & religious knowledge onto you. As you are well aware, I do stand up for what I believe in regardless of the topic.

You're the hypocrite, Dude. You force your radical atheistic views upon everyone. In fact you beat everyone over the head with it. Why do you think you have managed to turn an entire forum against you? You deride the person as well as his/her faith. Even other atheists found you offensive as well as an embarrassment. People lost respect for you. You are your own worst enemy.

The rest of you meanderings are old. There is no further need to comment on the same old, same old. When you have a new thought, please feel free to get back to me.

BTW even Lucifer could quote scripture...and your point, Bible literalist?

If that's what you think Jesus did, then yes. He was quite the hippie the old Jesus of Nazareth.

Real christianity is about love. but once humans tried to explain it it all went wrong.

LESSON-- Live it, then explain it...

Some will never understand, but the ones who matter will.

But love does not mean a toleration of anything goes......if you are with a group of your friends and they want to rob or beat up some guy going about his business......does that mean you go along with them in their evil deed or do you in no uncertain terms let them know that it is wrong, and that you are not going to be a part of that and that you are going to report them to the police if they do?

They are being a hypocrite because they are saying we are wrong for saying that certain behavior is wrong......they are judging us but telling us we should not judge.

As I've been repeatedly saying here that I am a sinner and I cannot possibly keep up with every demand made by our Lord Jesus Christ. Every Christian has his breaking point(s), and some are considered to be 'better' Christians than others, but the one thing we all have in common is that we all believe in GOD. Our belief system in GOD certainly outweighs or trumps any and all minor issues of secular minutia.

Love all other more than yourself is only one demand. Face you it, you cant stick with Jesus so you just make up same cowardly excuse to forget about it.

For someone who admits he's a sinner, you're awfully judgmental.

Importantly this is where love should be the overarching factor in all that we do and how we react. It' not just a virtue of Christianity but an inherent quality in all human beings, which can be manipulated negatively by environmental factors. Maturity is demonstrated by love. There are many examples of this in present modern society. Nelson Mandela, Matin Luther King, Bill Gates, Lady Di, Ghandi etc. Despite some of these people being activist, it was the quality in which they responded to persecution. Not all were practicing Christians or Christians at all. Love does not think superficially, it doesn't think irrationally but more importantly love finds a way to forgive. We will falter and fall but it is how we respond to these failings. Guilt is healthy and tells us that we need to change. Living in guilt can also be destructive, but in scriptural terms Gods grace allows us to move on knowing we are forgiven.

You're right about that 'guilt' thing. As a combat veteran suffering from PTSD I have been in many support groups of veterans who had a huge problem with the 'guilt' they felt for having lost a friend in combat by wondering why it wasn't them that died instead. I didn't have those guilt problems. Turning to politics for a moment, I don't share the collective guilt felt by white liberal males in particular over their feelings toward blacks and blacks that feel a permanent oppression because of their slave history. I love everyone, but like some of those people you mentioned, my activism or my dedication to erase alien or disastrous ideologies from American soil sometimes gets misconstrued into people thinking that I don't love the individual. Its because of my Christian beliefs that I cannot possibly accept liberalism in any form whatsoever. One must make the distinction between loving the individual and hating certain ideologies.

IF by Christianity, you're referring to specific people who label themselves as Followers of Christ, then, you're Correct..

Then again, there are people who do not cry out, "Lord! Lord!", yet who are nonetheless Loved by The Lord - via their obedience to His Command of LOVE..

PS.. I don't LOVE evil, Sin or death..

When God made Adam and Eve they were sinless. They were given a free will, which is the ultimate representation of loving and being loved. I'm sure most of us would rather choose our partners based on mutual love than having an arranged marriage and forced to have a strong sensual love. It works but not willingly in many cases. God didn't create humans programmed to worship him...I suppose it would be empty, much the same as 2 people being forced to marry each other. It would only make sense that God wanted to be loved in the real sense of being loved, its that simple.

Of course God forgives us of our sins and we will always be sinners! That's not desputed. In terms of how You express it, You are basically saying: we could take a persons life every day of the week for the rest of our lives and don't have to be worried, because "God will forgive". We could beat our wife every day for the rest of our lives, BUT "God will forgive". This is where God's forgiveness in your context is very scary! Essentially, we don't have to strive for perfection if our lives are guided by the fundamental principles of love.....the complete fundamentals of love that is!! Love is the key in everything we do! Love helps us to correct our lives, therefore we would be working towards perfection, but never becoming perfect. This is where God's grace is sufficient.

I think Christianity needs to reasess its ideals and that's not targeting one denomination. I also think churches have failed to purge for the sake of numbers and finances at the expense of conveying the real message. - "the true Church is simply all those who are filled with the Holy Spirit, and that sign that one has the Holy Spirit is having Love, Joy, Peace and so on" - You're absolulety right here but these virtues are becoming more and more vague. This is my perception anyway.
