I think the Keystone pipeline is a bit different. I bet the people who own the land the pipelines goin on are gunna make bank on this deal. Also, it's kinda like a highway.... for oil. Isn't it a much better idea to pipe the oil from Canada then ship it on Warren Buffet's trains?

    Corporate campaign finance and taxes.

    You forgot GATT and NAFTA.

GATT and NAFTA are unconstitutional treaties of the federal gov, and they are what created so much corporate power that they can buy states.

The best idea is to consider our dependence on oil as temporary, and not invest too deeply or permanently in it. This is an absolute.

Human beings are developing alternatives. We need to focus on investment in those. We need to develop societal structures that need less energy. This is an absolute.

GATT and NAFTA cannot be allowed to dictate our energy future or our environmental future. This is an absolute.

Margot, those pipelines were constructed from steel made in the US. The XL is constructed from pipe made in India. They are already digging it up from failures.

Since it is under GATT and NAFTA failures will not have the inherent accountability of other pipelines.

This fact is so legally potent, because it is basically treason, that; courts, EPA, environmental organizations are keeping it a defacto secret by never mentioning it. Note how long it has taken to get full accountability from BP on the gulf oil leak.

Recall, the EPA only sent a letter to BP "requesting" they not spray "corexit" rather than an "order", which IS the level of authority they have if operating under US law.

I've done a little research and find I've made an erroneous assumption.

Margot, those pipelines are in the ME. TAPLINE has been shut down for over 20 years and the east west is a natural gas pipeline not yet finished.

Are you schilling for oil interests?
